The crew had locked their news van on a street in Petworth in Northwest, D.C. while they were out in the neighborhood conducting interviews. When they returned they found the lock had been popped out of the door of their news van, and that most of the crew’s gear had been stolen.
District of Columbia residents will vote in November on whether to legalize marijuana. The D.C. Board of Elections voted Wednesday to add an initiative on marijuana legalization to the November ballot. If approved, the initiative would allow people 21 or older to possess up to 2 ounces of pot and to grow up to six marijuana plants at home.
The Washington Teachers’ Union says the new books will be given away Saturday at the Dorothy I. Height library on Benning Road in northeast Washington. Teachers, school support staff and others will give away books for first through third graders starting at 10 a.m. Older children will be encouraged to get library cards.
A police report, obtained by WTOP, reveals Barry’s vehicle registration was expired and he did not have proof of insurance for the vehicle, a 2002 Jaguar. His office didn’t comment on the report. The two cars collided head-on in the 2900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast. Barry was treated for having low blood sugar. The other driver complained of pain in her neck and head. Barry was cited for driving on the wrong side of the street.
